love thursday

IMG_5662.jpg

On this Love Thursday, you'll find us knee-deep in cookies and singing about beluga whales.

Earlier this week, Charlie came home from school singing, "Baby beluga in the deep . . . grunt, pout, frustration. I don't know mama. More grunting. What is that song?"

I tried to find our old Raffi CD, but no luck (it's hard to keep track of these things when your kids are six years apart). Right when I was ready to give up, Ellen said, "Google it!" We found this great video on YouTube, with real beluga whales, no less. I took several pictures of Charlie watching, but my favorite is this one. I love how his little mouth and cheeks gear up for the "ba-looooo-ga."

On the cookie front, Ellen and I are very busy sorting, packing and delivering Girl Scout cookies. We're having a great time. I called my mom to complain about the 20 or so cases littering our house, but I didn’t get very far. She interrupted the whining to remind me about the time that she naively volunteered to be the district cookie drop-off destination and an 18-wheeler filled to the brim with cookie cases pulled up in front of our small duplex in New Orleans.

Ahhh, perspective.

I'm totally sad that no one....NO ONE...came our way selling Girl Scout cookies. I heard there are some great new flavors.

Need to sell a few more boxes?! :)

I like the perspective story. Leave it to good ole' mom to nip some complaining in the bud. :)

Very sweet- love the pursed lips ready for singing. And leave it to today's children to recommend "Google it!"

I'm here via Jen Lemen's blog- and loving what I've read of the archives.
