I love Joan Chittister. I'm always searching for spiritual guidence on living a balanced life. I recently met and was inspired by a Benedictine monk. So, there you have it!

Three brothers raised singing tent revival songs hook up with their first cousin and make some serious old-school music with a very fresh sound. I'm totally addicted. iTunes shows their "influencers" as Tom Petty, Neil Young and The Allman Bros. I also hear The Call (my fav). Careful in the car with the kids (the tent rivival days are long gone). Thanks to Ash & Lauren for the recommendation.

love thursday

ellenholdingcharlie.jpg

I took this picture about an hour after Charlie was born. It’s been love ever since (along with some hair-pulling, “mom, pleeeeeez tell him to stop” and a “get out of my room” or two)!

One of my favorite little moments between Ellen and Charlie happened last week. Charlie wanted to play in Ellen’s room and Ellen wasn’t the least bit interested. Charlie started screaming and fell to the ground. I said, “Charlie, use your words please.” He looked at Ellen, drew a deep breath, calmed himself down, and said, “Sissy, you walk away please. I stay here and be very gentle with your work.”

Ellen rolled her eyes and smiled, “Oh, brother.” She paused for a minute then collapsed into a full belly laugh, “Get it! Get it! Oh, brother! Get it. Charlie’s my brother.” Charlie didn’t get the pun, but he was delighted with his part in the big laugh.

They’re six years apart and separated by gender, but they seem to truly love each other. And, I know from my relationship with my brother and two sisters, that they will share a deep and sacred history. One to hang on the wall, as Karen would say.

Happy Love Thursday!

Yes, most definitely one to hang on the wall! :-)

Thanks for participating!

Like yours my son is 6 years older than my daugher, and it warms my heart that they love each other so much. I've always been glad that they were not too close in age.

Great post!

So sweet! Those awesome words too. Way to go Charlie- telling the world how you feel and what you need. I love it.

One of the most magical parts of motherhood is watching my kids' bond grow- even when it sometimes feels like one step forward, two steps back!
love her gaze in this shot!

How sweet is that love ?

I also have a son and daughter, 4 years apart and even now with one being 20 and the other 16, they love each other so much. a love that has grown over the years and makes us, as parents, see that we did a great job.

I only have sisters and I'm not sure the love there is as strong as a brother-sister relationship...just a thought.
