OK. I have an advance copy. I cheated. All I can say is, "I heart Katherine Center." Just click here and pre-purchase your copy so you don't have to stand in line with all of the other people who will want to get their hands on this wise and funny book! Honesty, humor and great writing is an amazing combination.

I love Joan Chittister. I'm always searching for spiritual guidence on living a balanced life. I recently met and was inspired by a Benedictine monk. So, there you have it!

Three brothers raised singing tent revival songs hook up with their first cousin and make some serious old-school music with a very fresh sound. I'm totally addicted. iTunes shows their "influencers" as Tom Petty, Neil Young and The Allman Bros. I also hear The Call (my fav). Careful in the car with the kids (the tent rivival days are long gone). Thanks to Ash & Lauren for the recommendation.

    women's history month

This great poster is from the Syracuse Cultural Workers - my favorite peace and justice publisher.

Women's History Month is a big deal in our house. I'm doing a keynote presentation tonight at the University of Houston - Clear Lake to kick-off the celebration. I bought Ellen a copy of Girls Think of Everything: Stories of Ingenious Inventions by Women (written by Catherine Thimmesh and illustrated by Melissa Sweet). We're going to read it this month at bedtime. It's a wonderful, artful book with fun stories about products that kids use and understand.

To do my part for women this month, I'm finally following-up on the Dove/Axe dilemma. The comments have been very thoughtful and thought-provoking. They inspired me to contact Dove and Edelman (the ad firm behind the campaign) and ask some questions. I want to know if the people working on the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty are marketing folks or activists. Is this a case of a committed group trying to help women and girls who just happen to work for a profit-focused parent company or is it all simply a manipulative gimmick to sell soap. I'll let you know if and what I hear!

I also launched my new website on Saturday! I don't know if there's a name for SquareSpace groupies, but there should be. What about blockheads? That's funny.

If you have feedback, suggestions or ideas on the new site, I'm open - shoot me an email!

Celebrate women! Love yourself! And, the next time it's raining and you find yourself using your windshield wipers, thank Mary Anderson of Birmingham, Alabama. She invented the windshield wiper in 1902!
