it's just a koozie

koozie.jpg

Steve: Charlie won't get out of the bed unless you get him and he wants you to get him dressed. He really has it bad for you.

Me: I know. It's crazy. I don't get it.

Steve: You don't get it? Are you serious? bug-eyed look conveying disbelief in my cluelessness

Me: huf. What? It's not me. What are you saying? getting pissy and defensive

Steve: No. You're great. I'm just saying that you pamper him more than I do.

Me: I do not! It's just a "mommy phase."

Steve: I think that -

Me: Hold that thought.

Steve: Where are you going?

Me: I'll be right back. Charlie wants a koozie for his sippie cup. His little hands get cold.

Steve: Deafening silence.

Me: (a quiet mumble from down the hall) Shit.

Little boys are supposed to love their mommies - and they do it because of koozies and kisses and koolaid and all that stuff. It won't be long until he'd rather wrestle with dad in the floor and shoot hoops in the driveway - so enjoy!

that's simply a beautiful act of care, concern and love! i bet you would have brought anyone in the house a koozie if you thought their hands were cold!

Laughing out loud. That rings loud and clear and true in my family too.

lol -- actually, i always feel like my kids would rather have whichever parent *isn't* with them at the moment, because clearly that parent would give them what they want, right!?

Here's my story:
"MOOOM!!"
"What?!"(from a room in the back of the house)
"Will you get my blankie?"
"Isn't right next to your daddy who is sitting right next to you?"
"Yes".
"I'm sure he's perfectly capable of handing it to you. Ask him".
"Okay!".
He's 8. The 'mommy phase' is nowhere near over. LOL. Enjoy it while you can.

Just so you know, if, when we meet face-to-face for the first time, you don't arrange for me to have a koozie, I'm going to be highly disappointed.
