one of my favorite pieces of wisdom from harriet lerner

Harriet's latest book, Marriage Rules: A Manual for the Married and Coupled Up is just out in paperback.

Very good to remember. And to practice. Not natural for me. I'm working on it!

The new thing I'm practicing right now is to meet the world (squirrels mostly) and people with a sense of curiosity, rather than judgment. It's hard for me to do this consistently. I ask my Higher Power to help me do this everyday, and find that the asking itself is a good reminder. It helps me do more listening and less judging. Funny thing is it never really occurred to me that I could practice this with my life-partner as well. Thanks for the reminder to do more listening and less judging, especially with my partner.

Just bought the Kindle version, so tired of being stuck in the negativity cycle.

The book, Hold Me Tight by Sue Johnson is another great book to read that is based on Emotional Focused Therapy. Look forward to Harriet's new book.

Brene I love that quote and have seen wonderful results when I have applied that wisdom in my life. I also love her other books ' The dance of connection ' and "The Dancing of fear". Will highly recommend them to anybody trying to improve their relationship with others as well as with their inner selves.

I love this quote! It's a needed reminder for me. My boyfriend has told me before that I am not a good listener. So I've been MUCH more intentional with listening in the moment. Thanks for sharing the quote/book!

Read and loved this book, also blogged about it and did a give away. I am a huge huge fan of Harriet Lerner's. She also endorsed the book I have coming out in April called THE BUSINESS OF BABY.
Amanda Palmer....she makes the "weird", "not normal", "turn your head" into wonderfully embraceable. So many of us out here look away and don't ask questions when faced with something that is out of the norm. Amanda challenged me to look beyond my norm, to question my own biases. I can imagine Amanda (and it's somewhat strange to call her by her first name, yet I believe that she would expect none other) challenged so many with her talk, to push past their own self-built walls, to call into question their ideas about the unknowns.

Thanks again for spreading this fire!
It makes me smile discovering that you and Harriet Lerner are friends (spotted that in a Dec post). Thanks for plugging her new book. I didn't know about it!
